Nintendo Switch Online Paid Service

Nintendo has finally let the cat out of the bag. The new Nintendo Switch Online will be available September 2018. Nintendo will be joining the likes of Microsoft and Sony by offering a premium online subscription service. You can currently play online for free using your Nintendo account login but you’ll be required to pay in September.

Nintendo Online Paid Features

You’ll be able to play co-op and multiplayer games that are compatible for online play. They will also be releasing a Nintendo Online App for your smart devices. “The Nintendo Switch Online smart device app is designed to enhance your online experience for compatible games on the Nintendo Switch™ console” says Nintendo. The app also supports voice chat plus game invites via messaging and social networks for compatible games. You will also get access to exclusive benefits for being a paid subscriber. This includes classic game selection which will let you download classic games that now offer online play. Games that Nintendo listed as examples are Balloon Fight, Dr. Mario and Super Mario Bros. 3. Also you will be given special offers and discounts with Nintendo eShop deals.

Nintendo Online Free Features

You won’t get the Nintendo Switch Online app, online multiplayer, classic games or special offers with Nintendo eShop deals. You will still be able to access the Nintendo eShop, share screenshots on social networks and the parental control app. System and game updates will also still be accessible through the free online service.

Nintendo Online Pricing

So how much is this new fancy Nintendo Switch Online going to set me back? There are 3 different plans scheduled for release.

  • 1 Month  $3.99 (USD)
  • 3 Month  $7.99 (USD)
  • 12 Month $19.99 (USD)

With a record numbers of sales for the Nintendo Switch I’m curious to see how many will cough up the cash for this new service.
